Ben Baldwin is an exciting, young saxophonist, arranger and recording artists making waves across the UK music scene. He is well known for his genre-spanning versatility, playing in anything from jazz, funk, and soul to contemporary classical, indie rock and Ska.
Ben regularly performs and collaborates with acts such as his own band: Third Floor; professional party band: Sass & The Groove; Disco Diva Bea Badilla; Funky horn Juggernaut: Deadbeat Brass and is a founding member of the UK’s Split Reeds Quintet. Ben has appeared at several major UK venues including the Royal Albert Hall, O2 Academy, and De Montfort Hall; and abroad has made his debut at Amsterdam’s prestigeous Musiekgebouw.
As an arranger, projects he’s recorded for have been featured by BBC Introducing and alongside freelance commissions from several local (and not so local) group, he currently serves as in-house arranger for several ensembles.
He currently studies saxophone performance at the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under Naomi Sullivan, Anna Brooks and David Zucchi and additional receives regular coaching from Kyle Horch and Andy Tweed. His playing and sound is influenced by artists such as Candy Dulfer, Michael Brecker, Claude Delangle, and Jess Gillam, Ben brings infectious energy, musical depth, and creative flair to every stage he steps on.
